Years of LPG shipping experience

Backed by deep experience in global maritime energy transportation

BW LPG India was established in 2017 as a joint venture between BW LPG Limited and Global United Shipping India Private Limited, with the purpose to own and operate gas vessels for the transportation of LPG within Indian waters. We are the largest LPG shipping company in India.

BW LPG India is technically managed by Synergy Group, and commercially and operationally managed by Synergy Group and BW LPG.

From a modest beginning of two vessels, our fleet expanded rapidly in the first five years. Buoyed by strong demand, our fleet has grown to comprise eight world-class, India-flagged vessels in 2022.

Creating Value for Customers and Community

In line with India’s vision

Our work is aligned with the India Government’s “Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana” and “AtmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan” scheme. Our fleet of eight vessels bring LPG into the country safely and efficiently.

Supporting families with jobs

We employ over 300 Indians onboard our vessels and offices, providing families with job security and a good standard of living. Our seafarers in particular are given added financial and mental wellness support during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Increasing India’s shipping tonnage

Our fleet of eight world-class vessels increases Indian shipping tonnage by approximately 400,000 MT. We have plans to further expand our fleet, and deliver even better service to customers.

Contributing taxes and Foreign Direct Investments (FDI)

We remitted approximately ~US$14 Million (INR 110 Crores) in 2021-2022, towards Goods & Services Tax. We have also brought in investments of over US$70 Million (~INR 525 Crores) since we were established. These taxes and investments help contribute towards nation-building.

Savings on foreign exchange by PSUs

By employing Indian owned and flagged vessels, Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) remit the freight and hire in Rupees. This allows Indian PSUs to avoid forex outflow of ~US$ 84 Million per year (INR 630 Crores).

Uplifting communities

In 2021, we committed over US$72,000 to sponsor the education of female cadets as they attend Indian Maritime University. We also committed approximately US$80,000 to support ProtoVillage, a local organisation improving rural resilience in India. Read more about our support for ProtoVillage here.
