India’s largest LPG shipping company
Meeting growing demand with decades of operating experience
BW LPG India was established in 2017 as a joint venture between BW LPG Limited and Global United Shipping India Private Limited, to own and operate India-flagged Very Large Gas Carriers or VLGCs to ship LPG within Indian waters. BW LPG India is technically managed by Synergy Oceanic, and commercially and operationally managed by BW LPG.
Rapid expansion of LPG VLGC fleet
From a modest beginning of 2 LPG vessels, our fleet expanded rapidly in the first five years. Buoyed by strong demand, our fleet has grown to comprise 8 world-class, India-flagged Very Large Gas Carriers in 2025.

Creating value for customers and community
In line with India’s vision
Our work is aligned with the India Government’s “Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana” and “AtmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan” scheme. Accordingly, our fleet of eight LPG vessels ship LPG into the country safely and efficiently.
Supporting families with jobs
We employ over 300 Indian employees, and provide families with job security and a good standard of living. Our seafarers in particular were given added financial and mental wellness support during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Increasing India’s shipping tonnage
Our fleet increases Indian shipping tonnage by approximately 400,000 MT. We have plans to further expand our fleet and deliver even better service to customers.
Contributing taxes and attracting FDI
We remitted ~US$14 Million (INR 110 Crores) in 2021-2022, towards Goods & Services Tax. We also brought in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) of >US$70 Million (~INR 525 Crores) since 2017. These taxes and investments help contribute towards nation-building.
Savings on foreign exchange by PSUs
By employing Indian owned and flagged vessels, Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) remit the freight and hire in Rupees. This allows Indian PSUs to avoid forex outflow of ~US$ 84 Million per year (INR 630 Crores).
Uplifting communities
Since 2021, we have committed over US$300,000 to sponsor the education of female cadets at the Indian Maritime University; to support ProtoVillage as it improves rural resilience; and to Nourishing Schools Foundation as they help children take charge of their nutrition. And we will do more.
