Navgati Festival at School of Nautical Sciences, Chennai

Navgati 2025, the flagship cultural and entertainment festival of the School of Nautical Sciences, Indian Maritime University, Chennai campus, was conducted with great enthusiasm on March 6 and 7, 2025. With the powerful theme “Steer Through the Challenges”, the event served as a celebration of the spirit of adaptability, resilience, and collaboration—qualities essential in both maritime life and personal journeys.

Navgati 2025 highlights the idea of navigating through challenges and finding a new direction to overcome them. 

The two-day fest brought together a vibrant mix of talent and energy, hosting 12 diverse cultural and competitive events, including music, dance, maritime-themed contests, and performing arts. The campus was abuzz with creativity and enthusiasm as over 600 participants from various institutions across the country took part. The event also featured ₹75,000 in cash prizes, awarded to winners across categories, making it both prestigious and rewarding.

The event was generously supported by a strong sponsorship network. BW LPG India served as the title sponsor, with additional support from TCI Seaways, Emariner App, SBI, IWSF, and JB Marble. Their partnership helped elevate the scale and success of the event.

The valedictory ceremony and prize distribution were graced by Mr. Anand Krishnaraj, Finance Head of BW LPG India, who praised the participants for their enthusiasm and competitive spirit. His presence added significance to the event and highlighted the industry’s growing engagement with maritime education and youth development.

Captain Ganeshan Velayudham, Head of the School of Nautical Sciences, played a pivotal role in guiding and supporting the student body in organizing the event. His leadership ensured a seamless and impactful execution of the festival. The event was further honoured by the presence of Rear Admiral (retd.) Rangachari, Director of IMU Chennai, whose words of encouragement inspired the cadets and participants to keep navigating forward, both in profession and in life.

Navgati 2025 was not just a festival—it was a statement of strength, a celebration of community, and a call to every young mariner to embrace challenges with confidence and creativity. With its resounding success, Navgati has once again proven to be a beacon event for the maritime youth of India.
